Turn Your Home into a Vacation Destination with Themed Adventure Rooms
Going away on summer vacations may not always be in the cards, but there's an easy way to create wonderful memories and at-home adventures with themed kids’ rooms over the break. Take a look at some of our favorite themed boys’ rooms and girls’ rooms and get inspired to create your very own vacation destination right at home. From beach waves and sleeping under the stars with fireflies to magical kingdoms and indoor fort creations, this is a great time to get creative and bring summer vacations to life at home.
Take A Trip Around The World
Not sure where to go? Land just about anywhere in the world using a large-scale map as a backdrop to a queen bunk bed or queen loft bed. Jackson's queen size bunk bed with trundle room inspires us to take different travels everyday by exploring new countries and studying "abroad.”
Surf's Up / Under the Sea
Ready to go to the sea? It calls you in and creates such a soothing environment for kids to sleep peacefully while dreaming of surfing adventures. Jaime from Charleston Blonde brought the ocean to life in Harper's Surf's Up room. This bunk bed with stairs is a clever and discreet way to stow away toys, clothes, and more and make cleanup time simple. Plus, many of his friends can go to sleep to the waves with these cool quad bunk beds.
Flying High
There's no mountain too high to climb! Mom Tanya from Chasing Little Cubs used wall murals and flying airplanes above her twin over twin bunk beds to give her boys the freedom to “fly high,” but she also made sure they got there safely with staircase steps.
Mermaid Haven
Swim with the mermaids! This little girl's room features a full Wow play bed all dressed up in her favorite colors: purple, pink, and grey. Coupled with fun wall accents and jeweled knobs, this Mermaid room is sure to Wow! You can also dress your bed up in a variety of other color combos, like purple, pink, and blue or pink and white.
Fort Adventure Fun
How sweet is this indoor fort? Adding top tents and underbed curtains creates a few different spaces for kids to feel like they have a “getaway” spot to hangout, read and play. Bring the feeling of an outdoor fort indoors for fun all year long with this loft bed with curtain design.
Sports Extravaganza
So many kids love playing sports and going to games. Fuel their love of sports by incorporating sports items or team memorabilia into their room design. We love what Motivo Home (photos by Native House Photography) did here with pillows and wall art. And let's talk about how this custom L-shaped bunk bed will invites loads of sleepover fun!
Good Vibes
College kids coming home for break? Why not plan for some extra family time? Turn a larger bunk bed like a twin over queen bunk bed for adults and teens into a cool hangout space with Good Vibes décor and accessories. This boho style room is sure to even get your teen's approval.
Night with Fireflies
There's nothing like camping out under the stars and watching fireflies go by. Replicate that soothing effect with wall stickers and keep the décor looking fresh and simple. Add a bunk bed with slide and stairs into the mix and you've created a room they'll never want to leave!
Fly Like a Bird
The cute bird murals in this room design bring the fun of outside indoors. The bird wall murals combined with slide to create a fun indoor playground environment. Awesome job by Mom Tracy with her daughters' room reveal with a twin over full bunk bed with slide.
