Zoe Redesigned her Bunk Bed into a Loft Bed with Desk and Storage
Our hearts melted when we first met sweet Zoe and her fun-loving brother, Max, a few years ago. At the time, Zoe selected our best selling twin over full bunk bed with stairs after seeing it at a friend's house in Charleston. Her mom, Mandy, promised her the Sumo for her birthday in their new home, and she delivered. Mandy loved many features about the bed, including the ability to use the Maxtrix system to change the bed over time as Zoe got older. Now, at almost 13, Zoe decided to give her bedroom a teenage update! Using components from her original bed, Zoe now has a beautiful low loft with storage and desk for her next phase of life. See how her bed transformed from big girl to teenager and shop the full collection!
Zoe's Original Twin over Full Bunk Bed with Stairs
Climbing up is easier with a staircase entry, and it was one of Zoe's favorite features of the Sumo because she loved the top bunk. Sitting up high gave her the privacy she wanted - a place to escape for quiet time and reading. It was truly her personal "space" without her little brother around. But, when she did want his company, the two beds provided sleeping quarters for a sibling or friend sleepover.
Top bedside trays allowed her to set down drinks, snack cups and books without having to climb down. Also, Zoe loved having access to her favorite items, which she kept nearby in her storage drawers found in the staircase steps and under-bed dresser.
Mom loved that the Sumo was a sturdy, solid wood bed. She actually looked at other similar beds but eventually opted for high-quality construction. Above all, she was glad she chose this twin over full bunk bed with stairs for the longevity of the product.
The kids put the Sumo to the test daily, and it certainly met their safety considerations. Tall top guardrails kept them safe while sleeping or playing. And, as a bed that was designed to withstand up to 800 pounds, it didn't move during playtime. The Sumo gave them a few years of fun!
Zoe's New Low Loft Bed with Desk and Dressers
Now, Zoe is about to be a teenager, and she wanted a room makeover. Mandy showed us her newly designed space and shared the benefits of owning a bed that grows up with your child. Here's Mandy:
Zoe wanted to feel like a teenager with a loft bed. I was completely blown away that we could reconfigure what she had before, so we went from what she had for 5 years to the low loft. Coincidentally, it gave her a little hangout space underneath that we moved her twin mattress to as a secret, hideaway area underneath.
Zoe wanted the low loft height as she didn't want to be so close to the ceiling. This allowed her to be elevated, but not too close. The assembly of the new low loft was pretty quick and easy.
We love the bed. It has even given us more storage space - as Zoe becomes a teenager, clothing was overrunning everywhere. With the dressers, we have all of her clothes in one place. She has a desk, bed and bookcase all in one small area of the bedroom, and she's left with plenty of floor space.
We went for 5 years with one product, which was great, and now we've changed it, and we feel like she'll have this for another 5 years and be happy. The investment up front to give you 10-12 years is a great deal!
